Founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham, Byredo bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern artistic expression. Originally created as a private edition in 2013, 1996 was inspired by ‘Kirsten 1996’, a photograph of a young girl taken by the renowned fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
What does Byredo 1996 EDP smell like?
Byredo 1996 EDP is a rich and atmospheric Eau de Parfum that resides within the Woody Amber fragrance family. It is a scent of profound depth and cinematic contrast, designed to linger on the skin with the same intensity as a vivid memory captured on film.
- Top Notes: The fragrance awakens with the icy, gin-like snap of Juniper Berries, sharpened by the biting spice of Black Pepper to create a cold, bracing introduction that feels both modern and electric.
- Middle Notes: The heart reveals a sophisticated duality where the powdery, root-like elegance of Orris and the soft whisper of Violet are bound together by a structured, tactile Leather accord, suggesting an intimate, artistic soul.
- Base Notes: A deep and resinous foundation of Black Amber and earthy Patchouli provides a dark, smoldering warmth, beautifully balanced by a final, nostalgic caress of sweet Vanilla that softens the composition’s edges.
